I am trying to import an xyz Ascii file and convert it to SDTS format.

First of all Im having a problem importing the ascii data:

GRASS 5.0.0 > s.in.ascii input=/data/grasstest/fc1-dtm.pts sites=fc1-dtm3d d=3
WARNING: error scanning floating point attribute

[jnielsen at shade site_lists]$ tail -f fc1-dtm3d
2419950|1380080|6579.23|#170
%73372479071137370177127614966833693655775427238651263859948522755784949218367706577809392298656036940966723929997786529403350022678552748362616482562048

[jnielsen at shade grasstest]$ more fc1-dtm.pts
2419890.00 1380220.00 6601.18

It would seem I am not importing the 6601.18 in as an elevation dimension and I
have absolutely no clue what I am doing wrong. I read up a bit and apparently %
is used to indicate a floating point number. Question is why is it even looking
for this and if it supposed to what do I do to properly import this?

I intend to export this to SDTS format via the v.out.sdts command. I assume this
also means I need to convert my site map to a vector map. Would this be the
correct approach or am I going about this incorrectly?

Thanks,
Jason.
