[GRASSLIST:1745] Newbie - error: d.dmrc doesn't exists

When running the Display Manager, I get the error:
File /home/Grass/Globaldata/global/PERMANENT/ .d.dmrc doesn't exists.

I have tried the spearfish and the global dataset from 
http://grass.itc.it/data.html

How can I handle that error and get to view the map.
Been looking at: http://grass.itc.it/gdp/grass5tutor/HTML_en/c407.html
