The documentation recommends to download the related RPMs
(not to compile yourself):

 http://grass.itc.it/grass57/binary/linux/mandrake.html
 You should also download following RPMs:
    * gdal, gdal-python, libgdal
    * proj, libproj
    * libfftw2 

I've made it more outstanding on that page.
