Hi Ben,

Did you try grass5.0.1 from its source code?
I had similar problem (segfault of r.in.gdal of grass5.0.3
compiled from its source code on RedHat 8.0 and RedHat9) but
now my r.in.gdal is working after I replaced it with 5.0.1.
