If you start the GUI with "tcltkgrass&" or "tcltkgrass &" then you 
should be able to enter grass commands. The key is to put the "&" at the 
end of tcltkgrass command. This causes tcltkgrass to be launched but 
tells the shell not to wait for it to finish.
