[GRASSLIST:2992] Problems in compiling GRASS57

Hello All,
As I have some huge vector maps to process I thought giving GRASS57 a go. I 
use GRASS53(2004/01) on a ix86/Suse8.2 box. For info, my gcc compiler has 
version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux). I downloaded the latest 
sources (2004/03/13), the configuration goes smoothly.

I have a couple of warning during the make
alloc.c: In function `G_malloc':
alloc.c:23: warning: passing arg 1 of `malloc' as unsigned due to prototype
...
asprintf.c: In function `G_asprintf':
asprintf.c:42: warning: passing arg 1 of `calloc' as unsigned due to prototype
...
cats.c: In function `G_sort_cats':

...
color_hist.c: In function `G_make_histogram_log_colors':
color_hist.c:117: warning: passing arg 1 of `log' as floating rather than

mach_name.c:18: warning: `attname' defined but not used
...


I liberally edited the logfile, you have the idea.
On a sadder note, I die there :

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `OBJ.i686-pc-linux-gnu/spawn.o', needed by 
`/home/storage/pg56/Transitzone/sources/grass57_exp_2004_03_13/dist.i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib/libgrass_gis.so'.  
Stop.
