[GRASSLIST:6362] s.surf.idw with a Longitude/Latitude database

GRASS list,

I want to use s.surf.idw with a Longitude/Latitude database, of course I
get a result when I use it but I don't know how relevant the result is. I
know that r.surf.idw uses geodesic distance measures for Long/Lat
databases and that r.surf.idw2 doesn't but can find no indication of
whether or not s.surf.idw should be used with Long/Lat databases.

If in fact s.surf.idw uses decimal degrees for its distance, is there any
documented impact of this on a lat/lon database, or does it depend
on point density and location too much to make a generalization?

I would be extremely grateful if you could reply back.

Regards,
