You mean v.surf.rst?
Process speed is controled by segmax and npmin parameters. You should

I had 100'000 data points for 3'000'000 raster cells. On a 2,5 GHz P4
with 512 RAM and segmax=100 npmin=400 it took only 12 min to finish
task. Damn fast. On my home 850 Mhz Celeron with only 192 RAM it took
about 45 mins.

So - how big is your data set and how You know that v.surf.rst has
become dead? It segfaults? May bee it is still running just very
slooow :)
