Hi:

I have a rather large data set of legal subdivisions  in shp format  
of which I would use only a small subset on any one project.  I was   
looking at importing the vector file into PostGreSQL.  I also have  
some existing dbf vector files.
1)  Can I mix and match dbf and PostGreSQL drivers on different maps  
in the same Location?
2)  Is there any speed advantage to PostGreSQL?
3) Is there a speed disadvantage to simply externally referencing the  
shp file?  I don't see needing to edit the file.
