Hi Venkat,
  1. Have downloaded the 3 CDs of Free Mandriva 2006 ISOs and installed 
      on system.
  2. Executing Ur shell script as Super user (root)
      gives same old error..
  unable to register rpm
   
  even I tried to copy and paste one of your 1st shell script line
  urpmi -q libfftw2-2.1.5-5mdk.i586.rpm
   
  to individually try.. but failed..
  gives error 
  unable to register rpm
