Hi,
  If U R a 1st time user then download latest CSV from website and follow instructions on the page.
  We have used on PcqLinux-2005.
  while loading the list of RPMs
  Use --force where ever U get a message of failure to load RPM
   
  Here is how I installed GRASS6.0
  U must also have spearfish data to try out after successful installation
I have some Hyderabad dataset made using google images.
  and a paper too. Total size around 4mb. Pl let me know if U are interested.
  Good to note some Indians on this list.

    Steps for GRASS installation
   
JUST CUT AND PASTE EACH STEP IN A TERMINAL WINDOW.
  U MUST LOG IN AS A ROOT OR SUPER USER
TYPE
su <ent>
password <ent>   'ENTER YOUR ROOT PASSWORD
 
        STEP-1
(type/copy&paste the command below in one line on terminal window)
sh grass-6.0.0-i686-pc-linux-gnu-03_08_2005-install.sh grass-6.0.0-i686-pc-linux-gnu-03_08_2005.tar.gz
     
(# use --force option whenever there is a conflict with existing version of rpm
#example:      rpm --install --force tk-8.3.3-74asp.i386.rpm --nodeps)
     
 Step-2 installation of the rpms
     
      rpm --install tk-8.3.3-74asp.i386.rpm --nodeps
      rpm --install tcl-8.3.3-74.i386.rpm 
      rpm --install libproj0-4.4.8-1mdk.i586.rpm
      rpm --install xterm-196-1mdk.i586.rpm 
      rpm --install libgrass5_0-1.0.0-1mdk.i586.rpm 
      rpm --install libgdal0-1.1.9-2mdk.i586.rpm
      rpm --install libgdal1-1.2.2-1mdk.i586.rpm --nodeps 
      rpm --install libfftw2-2.1.5-3mdk.i586.rpm 
      rpm --install libjasper1.701_1-1.701.0-1mdk.i686.rpm
      rpm --install libogdi-3.1.2-1mdk.i586.rpm 
      rpm --install libgeotiff1-1.2.2-2mdk.i586.rpm 
      rpm --install libstdc++6-3.4.1-4mdk.i586.rpm 
       STEP-3
  ln -s /usr/lib/libtk.so /usr/lib/libtk.so.0 
  ln -s /usr/lib/libtcl.so /usr/lib/libtcl.so.0 
  ln -s /usr/lib/libpq.so.3 /usr/lib/libpq.so.2 
  ln -s /usr/lib/libgdal.1.1.so /usr/lib/libgdal.so.1 
  ln -s /usr/lib/libfftw.so.2 /usr/lib/libdfftw.so.2
ldconfig     
 STEP-4
TYPE 
exit <ent> ' to log off as super user
      STEP-5
right click  on 
spearfish_grass57data.tar file --> extract
  
TYPE
grass60 <ent> ' to start grass'
if it does not start type      /usr/local/bin/grass60
  use spearfish57 as data, for acquainting.

  we have installed GRASS binaries. We are using Fedora core3  platform.Should we now install tcltk if yes then please suggest the version. 
  Also we would like to know whether to install source code and then compile it or can we complete our project using GRASS binaries only.
