I point you to Debian's testing version. It benefits from all the
tuning done in unstable,
and, despite it's name, is quite stable software-wise

As we head towards Etch release, we should see waves of transitions
which may make youself nervous, but those go away swiftly...

I am running testing since the begining of 2005 without any major problem.
