[GRASSLIST:10758] How to calculate maximum & minimum elevation across a raster?

I need to calculate maximum and minimum elevation between any point on a
landscape and a coastline. I can get total, cumulative elevation, but can¹t
figure out how to get maximum or minimum. Any ideas?
