[GRASS-user] nviz: transparency, masks

Okay, I *thought* I figured it out...

Here's the situation:
[Cygwin\Grass6.0 on XP]

created an r.buffer which I wanted to use to control transparency of
dem displayed with nviz. I have tried one distance, and multiple
distances. I have tried r.reclass, but cannot figure out how nviz
uses the class values to determine if and how each buffer zone is displayed.

Is it possible to use a raster buffer to control transparency in nviz?

How does nviz use the class values to control the degree of
transparency of the surface color?

How does it treat the "no data" pixels in the buffer?

Thanks.

M
