Yes, I think so (wxGUI), there will be changes for sure (GRASS 6.4 and
GRASS 7.x), but the base GUI components remains. In the roadmap are
significantly important NVIZ replacement and cartography tools.

Sure, the input from users is more than fundamental... I do not use
GRASS for real work so much.

Since I don't know any other (proprietary) GIS so much (in the past I
met ESRI and MapInfo products) I hesitate to answer;-)
