Aha,
PEBKAC. Usual.
I managed to get the shapefile the way I wanted, but exporting just
areas (in hindsight, I guess that was what you meant).
I was trying 'v.out.ogr ... type=centroid,boundary,area ...' when just
'type=area' did the trick.
