[GRASS-user] SMAP algorithm

Hi,
i am looking for literature describing the functionality of the SMAP 
algorithm implemented in i.smap.
"A Multiscale Random Field Model for Bayesian Image Segmentation" by 
Charles Bouman seems to be an obvious choice, but this paper is set on a 
very high level (at least for me). Does anybody know of some other 
sources? If not - maybe you can recommend some literature that can help 
me with the paper!?
