Hi Nikos,

I downloaded the source, grass-6.4.0RC4.tar.gz, unpacked it into
/usr/local, and then ran the following commands:

---------------------------
- Install GRASS

- needs Tcl/tk
  $ sudo apt-get install tcl8.4 tcl8.4-dev tk8.4 tk8.4-dev

- needs fftw
 $ sudo apt-get install fftw-dev

$ sudo ./configure --with-python
--with-gdal=/usr/local/bin/gdal-config
--with-tcltk-includes=/usr/include/tcl8.4
--with-postgres-includes=/usr/local/postgresql-8.3.5/src/include
-with-postgres-libs=/usr/local/postgresql-8.3.5/src/include/lib
--with-cxx

$ sudo make

$ sudo make install

-------------------
