[GRASS-user] Using Overlay

Hi All,

I would like to calculate a value of one layer within an area of  
another raster.  For instance, I have a precipitation raster layer  
that I would like to calculate the median value within each state.   
v.rast.stats doesn't calculate the median value and neither does  
v.univar.

I tried r.median, but I could not get one median value in each state,  
it was always greater than one value per state.

Any help would be much appreciated.
