[GRASS-user] Simple programming code

Hi
I have calculated the vegetation index using Grass 7 graphically and it was done perfectly, my question is:
can I obtain a sample programming code in c language which do the same thing without using the graphical  interface ?
Or is there anybody knows which methods from Grass 7 programming API are used to do this calculation.
Also I will appreciate any reference link or idea from where I can start.
