[GRASS-user] ERROR: unknown locale: UTF-8 with Mac OS X

You can use any text editor, create a document, copy and paste the two 
lines you want, and save the document as .bash_profile in your home 
directory.

On a mac system you can obtain the free TextWrangler from Bare Bones 
Software.
