ISRIC --- World Soil Information is looking for a computer scientist / 
software developer specialized in Web Services and Geo-computation with 
affinity for soil information and soil data management. Major duties 
will be to:

- develop web-based services for ISRIC data products, such as WoSIS, 
SoilGrids and future products. This includes the building of user 
interfaces for data export and data import using Web3.0 technologies,
Web Mapping Services, Web Feature Services and Web Processing Services;
- assist in optimising geo-computation processes (big raster and vector 
data operations) used to develop ISRIC’s global spatial data products;
- assist in installing and optimizing infrastructures for Big Earth Data 
Analytics (Hadoop, SciDB, etc.) develop distributed systems (e.g. 
parallel programming, cloud computation);
- maintain and develop a UML schema for XML data exchange in the soil 
domain;

The position will be a full time position on a temporary basis for a 
period of 1.5 years, with a prospect of extension after successful 
evaluation. A part-time assignment of a minimum of 4 days per week is 
negotiable. Salary depends on knowledge and experience with a minimum of 
€ 3427.= and a maximum of €5330,- gross per month (Dutch university pay 
scale 11/12), based on full-time (38 hours) employment
