Hi Bob,

sorry, I can't help you with the "more" question, but a small hint:
There is a GRASS_PAGER variable:
http://grass.itc.it/gdp/html_grass5/env_vars.html

which you can be use for a general change for all (more or less) 
GRASS modules.
