Dear all,

I am pleased to inform that the next stage of activities following the European Commission- Australian Government agreement on sustainable cities theme in Nov 2013, will be taken forward to the next level at the Research Data Alliance meetings in Dublin later this week.

Research Data Alliance (RDA) https://rd-alliance.org/ is a key strategic initiative of the European Commission, National Science Foundation (US) and the Australian Government aiming to build social and technical bridges that enable open sharing of data Cross-border & cross-disciplinary challenges.

I will be participating in the RDA meetings (i know that Chris and others are also participating) and to move our ideas and agreements following the Canberra meeting forward and accelerate developments for the Open Principles to wider stakeholders in governments globally.

I am pleased to see the rapid fast paced developments happening globally because of strong support and policy instruments from governments and research funders which is key for helping solving global cross disciplinary research challenges.

Best wishes,
