[Ica-osgeo-labs] Mapping phone apps

Charlie,

We can certainly include that in ‘Web’ World Wind.

Would be nice to know how folks might use it, like in a saved ‘favorite places’ or an automatic email of the location, to oneself or other, or like in PoliCrowd where they would use it to generate a shared list of places that will allow other meta-data to be collected and input (photo, comment, etc.). These are all things that need to be defined in the CitySmart Road Map:

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GeoForAll_UrbanScience_CityAnalytics#CitySmart.2FSmartCity_Road_Map:_.27First_Life.27

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GeoForAll_UrbanScience_CityAnalytics#CitySmart.2FSmartCity_Road_Map:_.27The_Challenge.27

This kind of feature is easily done in World Wind Java, Android and iOS, http://goworldwind.org/
PoliCrowd is a great example for this in World Wind Java!

Hi GeoForAll colleagues,

A faculty colleague of mine, Krista Harper, is asking about easy-to-use Android and iPhone apps for collecting point locations (and perhaps attributes). Any recommendations? Please cc Krista on your response.

Patrick: is there anything like this for use with NASA World Wind? Seems like an important, generic 'Urban Science-related' application.

Thanks!

Charlie Schweik

Dear Charlie,

I have a quick question: What mapping apps for iPhone and Android do you recommend for creating pins when you are walking around a neighborhood?
