I'd add that the ideal profile to be a mentor would be someone with 
experience operating as part of another OSGeo project, so that they can 
share their experience and advice to help steer the members of the 
incubated projects in doing things "the OSGeo way", and to help them 
meet some of the incubation requirements.

That being said, as Jody just wrote, the work load is fairly light, and 
the rest of the committee is always available to help with the tough 
questions/issues that may arise.
