[Incubator] status update for board

Nice, I have never had a chance to get my head around what is going on with labs :D 

Have we made an effort to invite participants to this mailing list in order to take part? I would love it if we can field general care and feeding of an open source project on this email list.  And just assign mentors near the end in order to check the details prior to nomination.
