Hi All

JBA Risk Management is looking for a PostGIS dev to work on our GIS database, containing all our critical risk data. The key problem is maintaining integrity and data validation in raster datasets of around 10^10 pixels per band with larger datasets in the pipeline, as well as change history. In short version control. We’re a mixed Linux/Windows shop with the backend on Linux.

Job Description
We are looking for a database backend developer for our in-house GIS database running on PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Raster version control for regions within the raster is the first problem, followed by validation of the data relationships within and between bands, so an understanding of st_mapalgebra and st_reclass and when to use which would be useful, as would a solid grasp of GDAL.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and experience:
• A background in Mathematics/ Computer Science / GIS
• PostgreSQL database development
• PostGIS
• GDAL
• A solid understating of GIS and raster data formats
• C/C++
• Python
Experience with open raster-capable GIS front ends would be a bonus.
Location
This role is based in the UK in our Skipton (North Yorkshire) office; however, to attract the right candidate we may also consider exceptionally qualified individuals based elsewhere.
