[Landsat-pds] MTL.json files now available

I had to back off the 4 hour window because sometimes the number of files that came in were too many to process in 4 hours with the current tool.

I’m doing it every 6 hours.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Thanks!

Jeff

Subject: [Landsat-pds] MTL.json files now available

We have started converting all Landsat MTL text files into json. Jeff Layton, an AWS solutions architect, wrote a script to convert the text files, and we have run them on all files in s3://landsat-pds. We run the script on new MTL files about every four hours.

We are currently researching using AWS Lambda to convert MTL files immediately as they're added to the bucket.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

You can see an example of one of the json files at http://landsat-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/L8/010/020/LC80100202015018LGN00/LC80100202015018LGN00_MTL.json
