I have tested libLAS from current SVN trunk on FreeBSD 7.2 (amd64)
Here is complete log: http://osgeo.pastebin.com/d6a6344cd
I don't remember which version of compiler I used (I can check it
tomorrow), though I'm quite sure it's 4.x line. Everything works as here:

Have you tried to run tests?
If not, could you issue "make check" command?
