Hi all,
I just submitted a nomination for a potential funding award to
support further OSGeo Live Disk enhancements and I encourage you to
voice your support for it by leaving a comment. More info below...
I focused on items particularly related to the Education disk theme.
The timelines were a bit tight for me so, unfortunately, I was not
able to work as closely with others as I would normally like on
describing it. However, the description of the project and future
dreams for it fit our common goals.
I had hoped to describe the history (and all the great folks who
helped with the various projects) a bit clearer but ran into their
word count limit, so please don't think I forgot those who have done
the main work on these projects.
The nomination process allows public comments on the nomination, so I
encourage you to voice your support for it. The deadline for
nominations has passed but I believe you will still be able to add
comments. They should help to build the case for the importance of
the project.
Also, as part of the process I have pointed to the Live GIS Disc wiki
page, so if you have other ideas to add, please do so there. I'll be
sure to update the wiki page for more details on the education
perspective.

Note that Charlie (Education Committee Chair) has also nominated some
of the curriculum focused work that he, his group at his university
and the Education Committee have been working towards. I encourage
you to comment on that as well:

Hope you find it encouraging, to say the least.
Best wishes,
Tyler
