Hello Mapbender devs,

I had an IRC session with abhishek_singh last week about help on the
debian package he is working in.

I had a look at the drupal and mediawiki packages already available and
tried to package Mapbender the same way. For MapServer I used to use
checkinstall [1] to create .deb and .rpm packages. But for Mapbender a
lot of more configuration is involved like the whole database setup and
checkinstall doesn't cover that AFAIK.

Unfortunately it is really to much time to read through all the docu for
dh_* tools and dpkg-*
I also stumbled up on some troubles with my setup, so I highly recommend
doing the build process on a clean (vm-)machine.

The current problem, I have no solution for, is that its not clear how
the directory structure should look like and how its populated to be
used as source for the build scripts.

So far no solution from me. If I have spare time I'll take a further
look but no promises when this will be ;)

Lars
