Hallo Arnulf,

da Versionsnummern ja realistisch betrachtet hauptsächlich der
eindeutigen Unterscheidung dienen,

And now in english:
Versioning is up to my mind in general useful when seperating different
versions. So I think a clear arrangement will help all,
this speaks in favor of version 2.4.

The then not released release (;-)) 2.3 would disappear as a development
version, comparable with the UMN Mapserver
versions 3.7,4.3,4.5,4.7

I think in genereal we should go this way: If a release has new
functions and modules, we give a new number like 2.5,2.6, etc.
If the reelase only has bugfixes, but no new modules, we can add a
X.X.number. This would be a clear way.

Till ;-)
