Hi,
what do people think, do we need a separate announce list? From what I see here I gather it will be enough to send new versions or major changes to news_item at osgeo.org. Additionally we have the news box on the Wiki, so probably we do not need to have an announce list.

Tyler / Arnulf,

The Announce mechanism on the collabnet platform wasn't a mailing list, and
there is no analog to project specific announcements now except for
establishing a regular mailing list.

The news_item at osgeo.org alias can be used for submitting items that projects
would like to appear on the OSGeo news page, and to be forwarded to the
general osgeo announce list.  Normally this would be fairly substantial items
like a new release.

There is no reason not to create a mapbender-announce mailing list though.
