Paul,
You can access the coordinate system API through any of the supported
languages (PHP/JAVA/.NET). However, there is currently no way to access
the coordinate system API directly using HTTP requests.
In the up coming service pack release of MapGuide I added some
coordinate system test pages to the web tier test pages. These are done
in PHP. If you want I can send them to you early if you want to take a
look.

Subject: [mapguide-dev] Coordinate Conversion operations in MapAgent?
MapGuide dev guys ... is there any capability to to access the
coordinate conversion library through mapagent?
My goal is to be able to work with the Map extents in Web Studio and
set the extents based on the layer extent(s). The problematic case
is the one where a layer's coordinate system is different from the
map's coordinate system ...
One option is to add an optional parameter to GetSpatialContexts
which would be another coordinate system (in this case, the
MapDefinition coordinate system).
The other would be to expose conversion of wkt geometries between wkt
coordinate systems as a new operation in mapagent.
All of the required functionality exists in the API as far as I can
tell.
Cheers
Paul
