something in that direction.

I see, as you and Andy wrote that this feature is important and
understand that it should not wait for bigger changes to happen.
It would be nice while developing this new feature to have in background
of mind possibility of future changes.

I remember that discussion on coordinate projection related to fdo,
which included client utilities in general (see
http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FdoClientUtilities). However, it never
progressed very far. There were a number of options, provide projection
support as a client utility, include a wrapper around fdo, or include
within fdo. This still remains on the fdo futures list and is still open
for discussion in that forum.

However, the raster re-projection support seems important and I wouldn't
hold it up pending a possible future change to how fdo may do this. If
we ever do something in fdo around this, then we can migrate code as
necessary -- it would impact vector re-projection as well.

Is this something which can be part of FDO ?

Please correct me if I am wrong, this reminds me of vector projection
for vector data which I think would be nice that is part of FDO too.
