Ok. I've made a couple of minor modifications to the text based on the OSGeo News posted 2.0.0 release. The text for the mail lists is below. The HTML formatted text for the OSGeo news posting is attached.

Hello,

We are pleased to announce that the MapGuide Open Source project team has released MapGuide Open Source 2.1.0.

Release notes: http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/Release/2.1/Notes
Downloads: http://mapguide.osgeo.org/download/releases/2.1.0
Documentation: Please continue to use the 2.0 documentation for now.

Along with the many bug fixes, this release has
* many improvements in performance, scalability and stability;
* an improved error reporting system;
* raster re-projection;
* and CS-Map as the coordinate system library.

Thanks to the ever growing team of developers who are contributing to make the MapGuide Open Source project a more self-sustaining project. A special thanks to Jackie and Jason who worked tirelessly on the Windows installer and builds.

The MapGuide Team

I can keep my local 2.1 build environment around for whenever that
patch happens. I think it may be more important for the current system
to track trunk as semi-continuous build system? Probably better not to
waste efforts on 2.1...

Oh. There's a doc somewhere on the osgeo website or wiki showing how
to submit major release news to OSGeo for announcement. That (and a
post to mapguide-announce & -users) are important steps.
