With VC Express, it should theoretically be possible to do 64 bit builds if you install the Windows Platform SDK separately (also available for free). I haven't personally tried this with 2010, but for VC Express 2008 I did and 64 bit worked fine. I assume you can get MFC in the same way.

I can try it on 2010 and report back here.

Never mind, I was looking at the feature chart and it seems that VS Express can't build 64-bit binaries; this is a big problem.

Isn't VS 2010 free? http://www.microsoft.com/express/

But perhaps the free edition doesn't work in the configuration that we are trying to accomplish in the RFC?  Or maybe it is "free" with restrictions that don't work for some people (like Trevor)?
