Thank you very much for the comments. 
I think I made a mistake by reading Ivan's question "Save as DWG" as "Save as DWF"... sorry for the mistake.
>From my point of view, "Saving as DWF" makes sense for a "Plot" related function, while saving as "DWG" or "DXF" is beyond the "plot" topic.

any thoughts on using DXF? it's a text format after all, an not so subject to version-itis
