Hello PSC,

Here is some rough pricing for hosting builds on Amazon EC2. This is hardware cost only. Setting up and maintaining this environment will likely require one or more man weeks of effort every year. For the hardware cost, I have made the following assumptions:

- Persistent storage on EBS will be used to retain state of build machines

- Small instances will be used for 32 bit machines. Large instances for 64 bit machines.
Note: Small instances only support 32 bit according to website documentation

- 32 and 64 bit Windows and Linux will be supported

- A local SVN mirror will be set up to reduce bandwidth costs and improve build speed.
This machine is up 24x7 and will eventually host Cruise Control dashboard
It may also orchestrate startup and shutdown of other build machines as part of build process

- Build will take 6 hours (each Windows build takes 2 hours currently)

- Bandwidth costs are assumed to be zero

Builds performed once a week:
SVN mirror (30GB EBS, small) $526/year
centOS 32bit (30GB EBS, small) $62/year
Ubuntu 9 32bit (30GB EBS, small) $62/year
Ubuntu 10 64bit (30GB EBS, large) $142/year
Windows 64bit (60GB EBS, large) $222/year

Total: $1014/year

Builds performed daily:
SVN mirror $526/year
centOS 32bit $216/year
Ubuntu 9 32bit $216/year
Ubuntu 10 64bit $780/year
Windows 64bit $1123/year

Total: $2861/year

Regards,
Trevor
