Less round-tripping to the server is always a good thing.

Does the AJAX viewer currently have the ability to show different
labels/icons for commands based on its "on" or "off" state? Because what
would be really helpful is if this command would change itself so that:

 - When maptips are on, command label is "Disable MapTips" with appropriate
icon
 - When maptips are off, command label is "Enable MapTips" with appropriate
icon

Otherwise, it may look confusing to the user.

Or alternatively, since the aim of this RFC is to remove unnecessary
requests during pan/zoom/measure, could we not just hook into when these
commands would start executing and disable QueryMapFeatures requests while
these commands are executing and re-enable them when the command completes?

Also, will there be similar functionality for Fusion?
