Product Manager, MapGuide

Autodesk, the world's leading design software company, is at the
forefront of converging Web-based mapping and application serving
technology with open source technology.  As product manager, you will
guide engineering, marketing, sales and other teams that are creating
and launching new versions of MapGuide, Autodesk's next generation Web
mapping and application server. You will play a critical role in
executing on a cutting-edge strategy that bridges the open source and
commercial worlds. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial with the
ability to connect with both open source and commercial developers, has
strong product management (or equivalent) experience, and a keen ability
to think and execute fully on out of the box strategies.  Experience and
technical knowledge in Web mapping and/or open source communities are
required.  A passion for geospatial technology, dynamic markets, and
working as part of a great team is preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

*	Works with key customers and prospects to identify unsolved
problems in the market, and to prioritize and recommend approaches to
solving those problems

*	Creates all necessary documentation as part of the product
planning process including market requirements documents (MRDs),
personas, opportunity assessment, and product plans of record. 

*	Provides leadership to engineering, documentation, localization,
operations, product support and other teams involved in product release
management.

*	Provides leadership to worldwide sales and marketing teams to
execute on programs that result in higher awareness and adoption of open
source and commercial versions of MapGuide.  This may include creating
sales tools, white papers, Q&A documents, and other written and
multimedia collateral.  

*	Performs both business and product competitive analysis
documenting strengths and weaknesses and methods of positioning 

*	Acts as public-facing voices for Autodesk within the open source
and enterprise software communities, as well as acting as a key liaison
with the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGEO).  

Requirements: 

*	Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. 
*	Knowledge of GIS and Mapping industries
*	Knowledge of web mapping software 
*	Knowledge of open source software

Desired Knowledge/Skills: 

*	Results oriented and highly motivated
*	Excellent presentation and public speaking skills. 
*	Strong technical skills, including detailed understanding of
current Web mapping and database technologies 
*	Strong writing skills. 
*	Exposure to international projects is highly desirable. 
*	Excellent ability for skillful networking and interactions with
others. 
*	Strategic thinking and ability to manage long-term and
cross-product issues.

Work Experience: 

*	5+ years of product management, business development and/or
marketing (or equivalent) in the following areas: GIS and/or Web mapping
industries. Open source experience is preferred.
