Not needed anymore?

I installed the latest build of Enterprise and I updated a couple of .NET projects that were done in previous version and updated the dll's in the BIN directories.   I noticed that when I had...
MapGuideApi.InitializeSockets()
MapGuideApi.TerminateSockets()

The definitions for these didn't exist anymore.  Am I correct in assuming that these are not needed anymore?
