Hi John,
The SDF provider is installed with the server; nothing special needs to
be done to install it.
In your case, it seems that the server is not replying with the list of
providers correctly. Please try the following:
1) Start the server web pages,
http://mapguideos/mapguide/mapagent/index.html
2) Click on the Feature service API link in the top left frame
3) Click on the GetFeatureProviders link in the bottom left frame
4) A GETFEATUREPROVIDERS frame should show up in the right frame;
press submit.
The returned XML should contain the following (version numbers may be
different):
<FeatureProvider>
<Name>OSGeo.SDF.3.1</Name>
<DisplayName>OSGeo FDO Provider for SDF </DisplayName>
<Description>Read/write access to Autodesk's spatial database
format, a file-based personal geodatabase that supports multiple
features/attributes, spatial indexing, and file-locking. </Description>
<Version>3.1.0.0</Version>
<FeatureDataObjectsVersion>3.1.0.0</FeatureDataObjectsVersion>
<ConnectionProperties>
<ConnectionProperty Enumerable="false" Protected="false"
Required="true">
<Name>File</Name>
<LocalizedName>File </LocalizedName>
<DefaultValue/>
</ConnectionProperty>
<ConnectionProperty Enumerable="true" Protected="false"
Required="false">
<Name>ReadOnly</Name>
<LocalizedName>ReadOnly </LocalizedName>
<DefaultValue>FALSE</DefaultValue>
<Value>FALSE</Value>
<Value>TRUE</Value>
</ConnectionProperty>
</ConnectionProperties>
</FeatureProvider>
If it doesn't then, the providers.xml file in the server bin directory
(C:\program files\mapguideopensource\server\bin) may be corrupt.
Regards
Tom

Subject: [mapguide-users] Setting up data Provider osgeo.sdf on MapGuide
OS Server
When I drag files into MapGuide Studio, I get errors such as this:
Is there something special I need to do on the server to have osgeo as a
provider?
When I try to preview layers I get this error.
I tested the MapAgent, the Site Administrator and the Web Server
Extensions per the end of the Windows installation documentation and
they all responded correctly. I'm able to view the dwf and ajax samples
so my viewer works ok. My login has both Administrator and Author
clearance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've had a MapGuide site for a
decade and I'd love to start working with the new OS.
