AW: [mapguide-users] Raster Support yet? - Email found in subject

Sorry Frank, didn't mean to open a can of worms with this one.. I was quite amazed to learn it had no raster support when I reached that point in my eval. I can not understand the thought process of sacrificing features to get products released. Raster support is one of the most important features of any mapserver type product (at least for me).

I can certainly understand if it turns out to be a commercial offering and I will be one of the people with my wallet open when that time comes. Anything to support opensource is a good thing. I was very surprised to learn Autodesk released MapGuide to opensource to say the least. They are a commercial company and no doubt have something in mind to generate revenue. The MySQL team being a prime example how commercial and opensource fit together.. Its a model I thought wouldn't work initially but it seems to be working quite well for them. I hope Autodesk can support this through commercial offerings as well.

Please keep me on your list should you need beta testers, in the short term, I need to move forward and will be continuing on with mapserver for now. Just wish Mapserver had a "Mapguide Studio" type product! I have tried maplab, but when you start using a mixture of WMS and local content, it gets a little flakey.

Thomas,

I have a mail folder with all the expressions of interest in the raster
provider, and when I have a binary I will contact everyone who has
asked.

Best regards,
