I have had the same problem for quite awhile and have come to ignore it
as "just the way it is". I hope that there is a solution too. It
definitely would be a desirable feature for the properties of the
programmatically selected object to display in the properties pane.

Hi Bill

Thanks for the reply. I have various properties checked to display for
this layer in MG Studio. When I use the mouse in my application to click
on a feature, those properties do indeed display. The problem only
occurs when I create a selection programmatically and send it to the
map. The feature is highlighted on the map, but the properties pane does
not show the properties.

I am wondering whether the problem is that I am connecting to the
feature source to make the selection, rather than the instance of the
feature source which is used in the layer on the map. Could that be the
problem? If so, how can I create a selection on an existing displayed
layer on the map?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

The LayerDefintion XML file needs to explicitly list the name of each
property that you want to display in the properties pane (under the
PropertyMapping element). If you are using MapGuide Studio, use the
"Feature Data Setup" portion of the Layer Editor UI and check the
checkboxes in the "Properties displayed in the Viewer" list.

Can anyone help with this?
