I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but here goes...

If you right-click on a layer in MapGuide Studio, select "Properties" and then go to the Service Properties tab, you'll see all the settings that determine if and how the layer is exposed via WMS. If you add the name you want to use in the "Title" field, that should be the name that shows up in the WMS client for that layer.

Subject: [mapguide-users] Rename Layers and keep alive all connections

Freitag, 10.11.2006

Hello List,

i want to rename several layers (geometry) within a project in a way, that all the connections keep alive to the data which are create with the import of original data, and later on when i created a map, etc.

This is necessary because i distribute maps via wms an the wms-client on the other side uses of course the
layernames within mgo server and not the names i introduced in the assembly of the map within studio.

And now i´m looking for a smart solution to do this. Otherwise i have to go the long way and reload
everthing and give a more usefull, in this case shorter name.

Does someone have a proposal around this problem to solve?

Thanks and regards,

Axel
