Haris:
Yeah, I'm using MGE (Enterprise).
For number 3, (the amount of tables), I was just trying to figure out
why some tables came into the map with incorrect coordinate information.
For instance, my schools layer would not display correctly if I went
directly to the main schema. I created a new user and granted him
select rights on the school table. Then I created a materialized view
in that new user (so I could create a spatial index) on the school
table. It appeared correctly in the map. Not sure what the difference
here is when the source data is exactly the same.
For number 4, hmm...If it's an Enterprise issue, I never experienced it
before now. I'll do some more testing on it.
Thanks.

Hi Juan,
It woks now. It looks nice and also it looks fast to me.
1. I am still checking on memory usage.
2. Which MG are you using Enterpise or OS 1.0.2 ?
Enterprise didn't have schema caching so provider is doing it, in OS
1.0.2 caching is enabled in server.
I am not quite sure what would be best way to refresh schema.
I guess It is a question performance against easy to use. Not sure
how to satisfy both in that case.
3. I don't quite understand you. Amount of tables should mind. I have
one Oracle schema with about 200 tables/views and it is ok.
What was problem with labeling, some strange characters you
mentioned in previous emails ?
4. I suppose you are using MG enterprise I believe that is issue in it,
which has been solved.
5. checking

Haris:
We finally got our server situation figured out. Please try this now
when you get a chance.
http://gis.co.pinellas.fl.us/kingtest
To view the parcels, just zoom into a scale of at least 10,000. I just
use the zoom slider. Some issues/observations that I'm running
into...
1. It seems that if I use the Preview mode during layer setup, the
memory on the server tends to increase. When authoring our parcel
layer, I know I must change the max scale because of the amount of data.
It looks like Studio still tried to draw the entire dataset and locks up
on me until it's done. Then the server memory really increases. I just
turn off Preview mode now and it seems to be OK.
2. When I'm creating new tables/views/indexes, what is the best way
for the provider to get the updated information? With the Autodesk
Oracle Provider, I would just change the login info, save, then change
it back and resave. This trick seemed to work for picking up the
changes. With King Provider, I can't get this to act the same. It
seems that the only way to get new tables/view to appear is to stop the
server process and start it back up.
3. I guess the reason some of my layers were not coming up in the
map, was due to the amount of tables/views in my schema? I'm not sure
if this is correct, but it seems that way. I've now switched to a "MG
Enterprise" user that I have created views into my main GIS schema.
Seems to have corrected the problems with the labeling.
4. Select a parcel when they come up. The correct information
appears in the Properties window, but more than one parcel is selected
and the map states that 1 feature is selected. Weird.
5. When a user is selecting the Oracle Spatial layers, the memory
tends to keep increasing with every request. It never goes down.
I'll keep testing and keep you posted.

trying to publish it.

Ugh...My IT group decided to swith the IP for this server to another
one. Sorry about that. As soon as they change it back, I'll let you
know.
Sorry.

Please try this site now: http://gis.co.pinellas.fl.us/kingtest
It's really frustrating when I have to keep stopping and restarting the
server process to get this simple map to display. If the map comes up
for you, just use the zoom slider to go in to a scale of at least 7,000.
The parcels should appear. Hopefully, you'll see some of the issues
that I'm experiencing...
1. The funky characters in the tool tip.
2. The selection of a parcel doesn't show in the map, but the data
appears in the properties window.
3. Sometimes a parcel will be selected, but every parcel in the view
will be selected and the map says "1 feature selected".
4. Still can't get my evacuation routes to appear in the map, but they
show up in the preview during layer styling in Studio.
Thanks for the help and I'll post the other info you wanted as soon as I
get more testing in.

Just in case I tried also on one of my VM machine's, with just XP
installed. same error.

Are you still getting the error? I'm at home now and I'm able to pull
it up. Please let me know...Maybe it's one of those oddities about
Enterprise.

I'm seeing some other strange things. The labels on some of my polygons
have odd characters in them. Not sure where these are coming from.

Use Anonymous for the user and zoom into a scale of at least 10,000 to
pull up the parcels. Then hover over one of them. The performance for
these coming up is great.
I'm just stumped on why the Evacuation Routes are not displaying with
the parcels. Same coordinate system in the database. The layer
previews fine too. I can see them when editing the layer style; just
can't see them when I place the layer in the map.

Hi Juan,
I am looking at this memory usage.
Which version of MG are you using ?

True...I was thinking about it. I would just need to construct the
GEOMETRY in the view. I'll try it out.
Thanks.

I would suspect it is a memory leak in provider. I will check it.
"I just wish I could use this for non Oracle Spatial tables with
coordinate fields" - you mean like displaying points from x,y columns ?
Beside suporting it in provider, one of the ways could be to create a
view in Oracle for it.

Haris:
I'm testing this now and it seems that your provider is pulling up the
spatial data much faster. The only problem that I'm running into is the
server process is eating up memory at a large clip when adding more
layers from Oracle. It's gotten up to over a GIG. I've had to
shutdown Mapguide server completely and then restart it. The memory
usage will go back up as I interact with more Oracle spatial layers.
Not sure if it's more on the Mapguide server side or the provider.
I just wish I could use this for non Oracle Spatial tables with
coordinate fields. The ODBC provider will not show tables for me.

Hi,
newer version of King.Oracle 0.3.3 provider:
* Support for Spatial Views
It will display views based on spatial tables. Views needs to be
added into sdo_geom_metadata for provider to find them.
Get it here: www.sl-king.com/fdooracle
