Hi Jamie,
1) Yes that should be it ( and beside Oracle Client you need to have
Oracle database where your data is stored, free Oracle XE also could do
it)
FDO is already installed with MapGuide
You can just add new FDO providers like King.Oracle provider
2) One of tools you could use is Oracle Java Shapefile Converter

Hi all
I had been using shp files as data source. I now want to graduate to
using oracle spatial data.
1) What all do i need to install on my system? Currently I have only
mapguide open source installed.
From the regular dope on the discussion group i know i will need oracle
10.2 Client
Is this where the spatial data will be stored ?
a) Mapguide opensource b) Oracle 10.2 Client c)
mapguide
studio Is that all to get started?
I will also need a FDO . King provider is what i will have to
download.
Right?
Though i don't know how and where to use FDO,
I will comeback with my queries once i am ready all the primary setup
2) How can i convert the shp files to spatial data.
We have started working with GIS softwares recently and are still
novice,
so please forgive any stupid questions asked .
Please help us get started
Thnaks a lot
