[mapguide-users] Zoomtoview doesn't work in some browsers

Chris,
  I only have ie installed.
Next, no I don't get any response by clicking on each of those items. In
fact all but 2 of my buttons seem to non operational. I just hadn't tried
anything else.
After about 40-50 seconds of doing only zooming, and not clicking anything
else. Wheel Zooming stopped.
For about another 30 seconds none of my buttons would work. Then all of the
buttons begin to operate as expected.
By just going on the same page up in the settings of the map and touching
the pull down of the background color and coming back to the map preview
then I can wheel zoom again until I touch another item (other than the map
preview) or while zooming it stops at about 30-40 seconds pauses for another
30 seconds and then I can use the buttons again.
I am not running on a very capable machine (because it's all I have) but I
had not noticed this consistency in previous interfaces. Albeit I am not
doing any programming and my main focus has been getting data connections to
oracle/sde so I haven't played with the Sheboygan data that much.
I am continuing to play with it.
I may backup and just blame my hardware. I just had about a 5 minute session
where I zoomed in and out for the entire time without it stopping. It did
finally stop but it was much longer than previously mentioned.
I'm too embarrassed to even tell you what my hardware config is. Let's just
say not supported.
Oh well that is what I see probably too much rambling for this forum. I'll
be quiet now.
BTW all new install beta 1.2 and the studio patch.dll for same.
Brad

Hi Brad,

I just spent some time playing around with IE, Firefox and Studio, and
this is what I see:

Firefox behaves well - if I switch to another application and switch
back, it still processes my mouse wheel events.

IE (and hence Studio, which embeds an IE browser) - when I switch to
another application, or to another tab in Studio, or just switch the
focus to the URL address field in IE, I stop receiving mouse wheel
events from the map. If I click on the map, it doesn't help, but if I
click on the map's toolbar, properties pane, legend, or task pane, the
mouse wheel starts working again.

Are these observations consistent with what you're seeing?

Thanks,

Chris.

Do you see the same problem in IE and Firefox?

Not sure if session has expired but in the browser and in adesk studio
you
can zoom several times as long as you don't go do something else. Then
when
you return to zoom it doesn't work. I studio by going to another
resource
and back again it seems to refresh because then you have another set of
zooms you can do.

If your session has expired then the map fails to redraw after a mouse
wheel zoom. In IE, an error message is displayed, but in Firefox no
indication is given that something went wrong. Is this the behavior
you're seeing?

Is this the same or related problem I see in ie (mgos1.2beta) where
using
the zoom wheel mouse function it doesn't always -redraw the map?

In mozilla firefox function zoomtoview works fine, also in IE 7.0 beta
3. On
some version IE does not work: on first event it's zooming, but on
second
event it's not zooming.
Javascript code:

function zoom_sel(X1,Y1,M1,selekcija)
{
parent.parent.SetSelectionXML(selekcija);
parent.parent.ZoomToView(X1,Y1,M1,true);
}
